Why I created Blueberry Bombo
Blueberry Bombo is my independent animation project. The idea began with a feeling that something was missing from much of the children’s content I saw around me. A lot of it seemed very fast and highly optimised to capture attention. Some of it was also difficult to understand: what was it really trying to give children?
I wanted to create an alternative: content that feels calmer, more natural, and more meaningful. My goal is to build a safe and gently educational world where children can explore nature, imagination, stories, and Finnish culture without constant noise or pressure.
Blueberry Bombo is designed for children and families who value quiet moments, curiosity, and content that leaves room to pause, focus, and wonder together. I hope the project can grow into a world of stories, videos, games, and other experiences that carry the same spirit.

A story that began with a blue character
I grew up at a time when there was no internet or smartphones. When I was young, I had the chance to use one of the early Macintosh computers with animation software called Macromedia Director. By the age of ten, I was already making simple animations.
Funny enough, my first animation was about a blue character with large white eyes. It lived in a tree and explored the world around it. Decades later, I can still recognise that early idea in what I am creating now. The blue character has become Bombo — a Finnish blueberry with a world of his own.
It has been meaningful to realise that my creative journey has brought me back to the very first things I made when I first discovered what a computer could do.

Building a one-person project from Finland
I currently live surrounded by nature, and living here has brought me closer to its rhythm and changing seasons. That experience is an important part of the atmosphere I want to create in Bombo’s world.
Modern creative tools have also made it possible to build animation as a one-person project with a much smaller budget than before. These tools do not replace the ideas, learning, and creative decisions behind the work, but they have opened a path that simply did not exist for a project like this in the past.
I use that opportunity to create stories inspired by northern nature, Finnish folklore, and Nordic culture — parts of our shared heritage that I feel deserve to remain visible and alive.

What I hope to build
Blueberry Bombo is still a small project, and there is a lot left to build. My long-term hope is to grow it into a small animation studio and eventually work with a team that could create stories, games, and other content together.
For now, I am building the project one step at a time. The English website is one of those steps. It gives people outside Finland a chance to discover Bombo’s world and makes it possible to share the project with a wider community.
Follow my journey on HelpBnk
I am also part of the HelpBnk community, where I share more about my personal journey as I build Blueberry Bombo and develop the project step by step. There is already a video there where I introduce myself and talk more about what I am creating.
If you would like to follow my journey and see how Blueberry Bombo develops, you can follow me on HelpBnk.

How you can support the project
As I build these animations myself, I am constantly learning new ways to improve them as the tools evolve. If Bombo’s content has brought you value and you like the idea, you can support the project by joining the Bombo’s Club.
Your support helps me continue improving the project and creating new content for both Finnish and English audiences. You can also follow Blueberry Bombo on YouTube and other social media. Every new follower helps the project reach more people.
Thank you for your support. I hope you enjoy the world I am creating, and I look forward to sharing more of its journey with you.
